Original antique ting tang quarter chiming two train mantel clock in mahogany case, the Winterhalder & Hofmeier movement striking on twin gongs, the 7.5"tall brass edged dial with 4.5" silvered chapter ring and subsidiary dial for speed adjustment, the movement has been cleaned & serviced and is in full working order. 11.5 inches high.
Information about maker
Winterhalder & Hofmeier were considered the finest clockmakers in the Victorian era. They were based in several towns in Germany’s Black Forest region. The company was established in 1810 by Thomas Winterhalder in Friedenweiler, southern Germany,
At the height of their success, satellite factories began to spring up, and by the mid and late 19th century they were producing clocks of premier quality.
The case is in good condition, historical repairs to case top, the mechanism has been cleaned serviced and is fully working, - displays very well - supplied with winder.
