Description of the item
A 19th century French gilt spelter Rococo style striking mantle clock fitted with a Japy Freres Grande Medaille d'Honneur movement. The white enamel dial with Arabic numerals facing twin train bell striking movement. The movement has been cleaned & serviced and is in full working order. 15" inches high.
Information about maker
Japy Freres were considered one of the top French clock makers of the 19th century who first exhibited their work in the French Exposition of 1819. This movement bears the mark 'Grande Medaille d' Honneur' which was awarded to Japy Freres in 1855.
The case is in good condition. The mechanism has been cleaned serviced and is fully working, - displays very well - supplied with winder.
