Description of the item
A 19th century neo classical French gilt ormolu striking mantel clock signed Comptoir General Mon. Riondet - 9 Bvd. Poissoniere Paris. The stepped case with gilt ormolu decoration and urn finial houses the twin train outside countwheel striking mechanism with matching original pendulum. The movement has been cleaned & serviced and is in full working order. 16" inches high.
NB - a near identical item sold at Christie's New York Rockefeller Plaza in 2008.

In the late 19th century Comptoir General Mon. Riondet was a large Paris department store of distinction, this particular clock bears its mark on both the dial and movement.
The clock is in good condition. The mechanism has been cleaned serviced and is fully working, - displays very well - supplied with winder.
